School Emergency Kit

You know that horrible feeling when you have a problem at school and you don't have the tools or products to fix it. I don't know about you but that happens all the time to me. So last year I put together an emergency kit for school. I kept this in my locker and I found it so helpful. I was surprised to find out how much my friends and I actually used the things inside. Today I'm going to school you in what I pack in my emergency kit for school. These are all things that you always wish you had with you, that will now all be in one place.

The first thing I put in here is a box of bandaids. I am a klutz sometimes and these come in handy. These ones are so cute and fun and remind me of my childhood.

The next thing is a smell good product. I have some deodorant here which comes in handy after gym or when you just feel not so fresh during school. If you find it awkward to quickly put on deodorant in the hallway you can sub this with perfume, which is something I would probably do. Although deodorant is a lot stronger and will last you a while.

My next thing I have to have all the time is hand cream! I got this one through a beauty subscription service, and it's a perfect size to keep in here. I find that my hands get so dry and cracked during school which can be so uncomfortable when you're writing all day.

You know when you are at school and everyone around you is sneezing and coughing. That's when this next product comes in handy. This is a hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works and smells really yummy and kills the germs. I put this on my hands before and after lunch everyday.

The next thing is something that most people might not think of. Going off of the klutz thing, I always end up spilling things on myself at lunch. This Tide to-go comes in handy a lot when you get an ugly, embarrassing stain on your shirt.

The next thing is to keep me occupied and satisfied. I like to keep gum or candy in my locker, and I'm always throwing a piece into my mouth when I need a pick me up or when I need to freshen my breath.

This next thing is kind of weird and you might not think to put this in is a pair of scissors. The amount of times that I need to cut a loose thread or just cut something deserved a little pair of scissors in my locker.

Another item that comes in the most handy is a nail file. I have very long nails and they break all the time. To prevent my nails from catching on things and being to sharp I need to file them.

The last thing that I have to always have with me is any type of lip product. Here I have a lip balm and a lip gloss. I always keep lip balm on my locker, but I will bring whatever lip product I choose that day.

I keep all these things in a cute little bag that I got as a free gift with purchase from Aeropostale, but any bag that will fit in your locker will work.

I hope that you found this helpful, and it inspired you to put together your own emergency kit with products and things that are customized to you.

NYX Butter Glosses

These glosses have been out for a while and are definitely my favorite from the drugstore. Whenever I'm running late and need a little extra something, these are what I grab. Today I'm going to review these lip glosses and tell you all the positive and negatives of them. Some positives things about these glosses are…

1. They smell like cake. These have a delicious sweet smell that hits you right when you open the bottle.
2. These are not sticky, which makes them extremely easy to wear.
3. They have a huge color selection. There is bound to be one that you like. From the lightest of color to the darkest.
4. The packaging is so cute. These are also so easy to store wherever you want.
5. The price point is great. They are $5.00 per gloss on the NYX website, but you can find them at many drugstores and Ulta.
6.These are very soft and silky on the lips.

One negative to these lip glosses is they are not very long wearing. These are the type of lip product that you are going to want to pack in your purse wherever you go especially if you are going to be eating or talking a lot!

Swatches
I have four colors here, but I would really love to pick up more. I like to choose more of the lighter colors because these are the ones I like to wear the most. From top to bottom there is Maple Blonde, Creme Brûlée, Tiramisu, and Vanilla Cream Pie.

Beachy DIY

Today's post is a super fun diy! After Hurricane Sandy my beach house had to have the whole first floor redone. It looks great now, but I still thought it needed more decorating. I thought making some art for the house would be a great summer project. The materials you will need are a canvas (any size of your choice), sand, Mod Podge, acrylic paint (any colors of your choice), paintbrushes and hairspray. First I started by drawing the flip flop design on the canvas. I sketched two flip flops with polka dots on them leaving  space in the middle of them for the words. Then I used some acrylic paint to color it in. The paint colors I used were a sky blue, a hot pink and a sunny yellow. Next I painted on the words "PPB" which stands for Point Pleasant Beach on the left side. And I wrote "2015" on the right side to indicate the year. Point Pleasant Beach is where my beach house is and I have such great memories there with my family and friends this year. After that was all painted on with two coats I moved on to the sand part. Last time I was at the beach I collected two water bottles filled with sand from our usual spot on the beach. I thought it would have more meaning if the sand came from the beach that we go to, but you can buy sand from a craft store if its not easily accessible. Then I applied a thin layer of Mod Podge to different sections with a paint brush. I poured the sand right on using a red solo cup for more control. I used my fingers to pat in it, and after you are done with all your sections you are left with a beautiful textured artwork. Lastly I sprayed on some hairspray over the artwork to ensure that the sand would stick to the canvas for a log period of time. After that hang it up and enjoy!

Valentine's Day Ideas!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love decorating, making some delicious treats, and telling my family that I love them. Today, I am going to show you guys some amazing ideas for a last minute Valentine's day party.

First I am going to show you some festive treats that you and friends will love and they are all so easy to make. I just recently had a Valentine's Day party with my friends and these are a few things that I made.

The first one is Strawberry chocolate chip cookies. These are fun, pretty, pink cookies. These got eaten in my house in a blink of an eye. I found the recipe on Pinterest and it was so fast and easy to make!

The next treat that I am going to show you is also a Pinterest find. It is a m&m, mini Reese's peanut butter cup cookie pie. I love this and it looks so pretty when you cut into the moist cake.

The last treat is something that I created off the top of my head. This turned out to be one of the most popular. I just took some unsalted, unbuttered popcorn and popped it in the microwave. Then I melted some semi-sweet chocolate chips and lightly drizzled it all over the popcorn. Yum! Then for the last step to make just it a little more Valentine's Day appropriate, I added some red and pink sprinkles. After the chocolate on the popcorn cools, transfer it to a big bowl and it is ready to enjoy!

For my dinner party I made ravioli using my dad's homemade marinara sauce. On the side we had a mozzarella, tomato, and basil salad. And one of my favorite things of the meal was the fresh warm bread! To drink I  actually made Shirley Temples! These were so fun and easy to make and we all had many refills. For the Shirley Temple you are just going to take some lemon-lime flavored soda and pour that into a pretty glass, then add a few splashs of grenadine syrup and add a cherry. These will impress your guests and add a fun element to your party menu.

One of the most important details to a V-Day party is the table set-up. I added some cute napkins, pasta bowls, and little heart shaped plates for bread. As for the rest of the table I added some bright colored tulips, candy dishes, homemade name place cards, and some patterned straws for the Shirley Temples.

The last thing that I am going to show you today are the favors that I gave out at the end of the party. I got these really adorable mugs from Target and I wrapped some V-Day colored Hershey Kisses in cellophane and put it in each mug, tying each one with some cute ribbon and adding name tags made of red card stock paper.

Thanksgiving Traditions

It's that time of year again. The time when we look back on what we have and give thanks. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because of the food, decorations, and the outfits. Today I am going to share some of my Thanksgiving traditions.
The first tradition I have is one that I just recently started last year, and that I continued this year. Last year with my religious group we went to a local senior center and prepared them a meal. Last year we made them tacos and this year we made them pancakes. We talk with them and listen to them tell stories, and it's really fun. I look back and realize how fortunate I am to have family and food on my table everyday, that these people don’t have. We bring them joy in this holiday time if their family doesn’t live near them. They love when we come and they look forward to meeting us. This Thanksgiving season I encourage you to do something to give back. It could really be anything. Try to give the joy of something that you have to others this season.

Another tradition my family has is that we always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade every Thanksgiving morning. It is a tradition that my parents have done with us every since we were born. One year my dad, uncle, mom, brother and I went the night before to see them blow up the balloons. It was so much fun! Did you know the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City has been going on for 88 years? That’s a long time and always ceases to amaze me. So this Thanksgiving grab your hot cocoa, sit on the couch and watch the parade wight he people you love.

My Fall Favorites

Fall is one of my all time favorite seasons for so many reasons. I love the clothes, hot drinks, pumpkin picking and the overall atmosphere. Today, I am going to show some of my many favorite things about fall.

Let's start with the clothes- fall fashion is my favorite. I love all the layering, dark colors, and fun accessories. My first favorite is cute cozy sweaters. This one I just recently got from Abercrombie and Fitch and I completely fell in love with it. I also love knee high socks. These gray ones are from Aeropostale from the Bethany Mota collection and I love pairing them with my cute ankle booties that I wear almost every day! My last fashion favorite are hair bows. I love them because not only are they really easy to throw on but they are a super big trend right now.

Now on to the makeup. I am only thirteen so I don't wear a lot of it but sometimes I have fun experimenting with it. These two are my favorite fall lippies. The lipstick is Clinique's "raspberry glaze" and it is the perfect light berry color, it is very fall appropriate without being overkill. And the next one on the right is the NYX butter gloss in "tiramisu" and I call this color my perfect fall nude- it is a light pink gloss with some brown undertones.

One of my ALL TIME favorite things about the cold weather and fall is the different nail colors. I love switching up my nail color to start using dark ones. I have to narrow it down a lot but some of my fall favorites are (from left to right) Essie "plumbery", Bobbi Brown "navy", Zoya "sloane", Essie "sand topaz" and Essie "big spender". I know that was alot but I found that these are the colors that I am religiously painting my nails during this time of year.

I also have some random fall favorites. My favorite drink in the fall is hot cocoa. Whether I am hanging out with friends, snuggling up on the couch, or hanging out with my friend, the skeleton, this is what I most always am drinking. This cute mug is from Kate Spade. Another random favorite are fall themed candles. These two have been my favorite recently, Bath and Body Works "pumpkin cupcake" and the one on the right is from Hallmark.

Sick/ Lazy Day Essentials

I know being sick is one of the worst feelings ever, and this past week I've been dealing with a bad head cold but hopefully my essentials can make your next day in bed a little bit better.

When your sick the last thing you want to do is put on a couture dress and blazer. Well at least I don't, my number one thing is to be comfortable. My outfit would definitely consist of leggings and fuzzy socks. These leggings are from Nordstrom BP, and these fuzzy socks are actually from the dollar section at Target.

Another thing you don't want to worry about is putting on a full face of makeup, but you also don't want to look how you feel on the inside. What I like to stick with is moisturizer because your skin can get really dry when you're sick. A tinted lip balm because it will not only moisturize your lips but add a little pop of color to them. Last but not least, mascara because it always makes me feel awake and happy. My moisturizer is from Nuetregena, my lip balm is the Maybelline baby lips in the color "cherry me", and my mascara is the Covergirl clump crusher mascara. I usually go with no makeup when I'm sick or lazy to let my skin breathe but these things will make you look a little more put together if you have to go somewhere that day.

I also recommend soup and hot drinks, these always make me feel warm and cozy and sooth my throat. This is my favorite soup- Lipton Extra Noodle (add carrots!). And this cute mug is from Kate Spade and it is filled with lemon water. Which is a mix of hot water, lemon juice, and a little sprinkle of sugar. My mom always makes this for me when I'm sick and it makes me feel much better. Plus it also one of my favorite drinks to warm me up on winter nights. And the last few things are to keep me company. Besides the TV, I like to have my iPad, my phone, and issues of my favorite magazines.

I hope these tips and tricks help you next time you are home sick.  Feel better!
